Join us for an intimate evening with local author Julie Carrick Dalton, whose acclaimed new novel, The Forest Becomes Her, is set in nearby Concord and explores the profound relationship between people and the natural world. 

In a fireside conversation with Discovery Museum CEO Marie Beam, Julie will discuss the novel's themes of environmental loss, grief, resilience, and our enduring connection to forests. Together, they'll explore a question that feels more urgent than ever: If today's children never develop a meaningful relationship with nature in the first place, what do we risk losing—not only environmentally, but culturally and emotionally?

As adults, we carry both memories of the natural places that shaped us and the responsibility to ensure that today's children have the opportunity to form those same lifelong connections. Through conversation and audience reflection, we'll consider why experiences in nature matter, how they influence the people children become, and what role each of us can play in nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards.
